Seven parliamentary officials committed to High Court over corruption charges
During the hearing, defence lawyer Asuman Basalirwa informed court that he had lost contact with one of the accused, Ms Stella Itute, and that he was no longer representing her.

The Anti-Corruption Court has committed seven Parliamentary officials to the High Court for trial over alleged corruption-related offences.
The decision followed proceedings before the Anti-Corruption Magistrate’s Court, where the accused were found to have a case to answer and were subsequently sent to the High Court for trial.
During the hearing, defence lawyer Asuman Basalirwa informed court that he had lost contact with one of the accused, Ms Stella Itute, and that he was no longer representing her.
Itute was, however, missing from the final indictment presented before court, raising questions over her status in the case.
The remaining accused officials will now face trial before the High Court, where the prosecution will present evidence regarding the corruption allegations against them.
The case forms part of ongoing efforts by anti-corruption authorities to address alleged misuse of public resources and promote accountability within public institutions.
