They Lied That I Attacked You – Minister Apologises To Pastor Bujjingo Over Attack

The state Minister of State for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs Kyofatogabye Kabuye has apologised to House of Prayer Ministries International (HPMI) lead Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo after some bloggers put words in his mouth.

In an interview to clarify on the matter yesterday, Minister Kyofatogabye said he had to engage Bujjingo on phone to clear the air.

“First of all we have to appreciate religious leaders for driving people to vaccination centres. I saw him personally directing people to vaccination centres. But the problem is when we talk about some things, some people choose to pick out things that will cause conflict. But the bottomline is I called him and we agreed and I personally appreciated his contribution,” a seemingly apologetic Kyofatogabye said.

He added, “Let us say there was miscommunication. I talked to him and he humbly listened to me. I informed him that I cannot utter some of the things as they allege I said.”

Kyofatogabye further guided that, “The rule for re-opening is 200 people or a distance of two metres. There are big worship centres and churches, these can accommodate more people as long as the distance to two metres is kept per person and other Covid-19 SOPs are followed as per the presidential directives.”

On Sunday, Pastor Bujjingo directed Christians to go for vaccination at the various vaccination centres set up by government through the Ministry of Health in their areas.

He however castigated religious leaders for proposing that churches be turned into vaccination centres.

Bujjingo said that a church is a place where people are supposed to go to for spiritual food and to talk to God.

Bujjingo said, “The ministry of Health officials and KCCA are at the entrance that is facing Bwaise. There is a restaurant called Sharma. So, anyone who is here and needs to get his/her second Jab, or if they have never been vaccinated and they need to be vaccinated, please go to those centres. Vaccination is completely safe, so please go and get vaccinated. We are ready to direct people to vaccination centres but let churches remain places where people meet God.”
