Echweru, leading a delegation from the Ministry of Works and Transport, was warmly received by Deputy General Manager Liang Qingshan of CCCC. During the visit, Echweru conveyed Uganda’s deep appreciation for the company’s long-standing partnership with the government in executing several key infrastructure projects.
“Over the years, with your outstanding expertise and strong project execution capabilities, your company has delivered multiple landmark projects in Uganda, including the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway and the expansion of Entebbe International Airport,” Echweru stated. “These projects have not only greatly improved our transportation conditions but also injected strong momentum into Uganda’s socio-economic development.”
He further highlighted CCCC’s commendable commitment to corporate social responsibility, including the provision of employment opportunities, skills transfer and training to Ugandan citizens. He also acknowledged the company’s efforts in implementing environmental and social safeguards, ensuring the preservation of the environment amidst significant infrastructure development.
Looking to the future, Echweru reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to expanding cooperation with CCCC on projects already in the pipeline. “Moving forward, Uganda stands ready to work with CCCC to continuously expand our co-operation, deepen strategic collaboration, and create more exemplary projects in highways, bridges, ports, railways, and urban development,” he emphasized.
The Minister also addressed the importance of exploring diverse financing models to drive further development and achieve Uganda’s Vision 2040 goals, which aim to accelerate the country’s transport sector development. “Uganda Government is willing to work hand in hand with CCCC to actively engage Chinese financial institutions and explore sustainable financing mechanisms,” he said.
Furthermore, Echweru welcomed CCCC’s potential involvement in the clean energy sector. “We also welcome your proposals to expand co-operation in the clean energy sector, especially in green infrastructure projects such as small hydropower and solar power plants, which align closely with our goal of driving a green economic transition,” he explained.
In closing, Echweru extended his best wishes to CCCC for continued global success and expressed his hope for even more fruitful outcomes from the ongoing collaboration between Uganda and the company. The visit underscores the strong and lasting partnership between Uganda and CCCC and signals a continued commitment to building a brighter future for Uganda through strategic infrastructure development.
