UBOS kicks off sub-regional census profile dissemination, empowering local governments with data
UBOS technical teams have begun engaging with Local Government leaders across the country, presenting key findings from the latest census and conducting practical, live demonstrations.
The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) yesterday, September 16th, 2025, launched a nationwide initiative to disseminate Census Area Profiles at the sub-regional level.
This crucial undertaking aims to equip Local Governments with vital demographic and socio-economic data, thereby strengthening their capacity for effective planning and improved service delivery.
UBOS technical teams have begun engaging with Local Government leaders across the country, presenting key findings from the latest census and conducting practical, live demonstrations.
The focus of these sessions is to guide officials on how to efficiently navigate the UBOS website, specifically http://ubos.org, to access granular data, ranging from national figures down to the parish level.
Currently, UBOS teams are actively present in the cities of Lira, Masaka, Hoima, and Arua. In these locations, they are working directly with local leaders, ensuring they have timely and accurate statistical information at their fingertips.
The objective is to foster a data-driven approach to governance, enabling these administrations to make more informed decisions regarding resource allocation, policy development, and the targeted provision of essential services to their constituents.
This sub-regional dissemination is a critical step in making census data more accessible and actionable.
By bringing the information directly to the stakeholders who will utilize it most, UBOS is fostering a stronger link between data collection and its practical application in improving the lives of Ugandans.
The initiative underscores UBOS’s commitment to democratizing data and empowering local governments to build a more prosperous and well-served nation.
