We didn’t fight to stay together, Blu*3 open up on painful breakup, healing
Their recent reunion concerts have reignited their bond, and the trio is determined to rebuild their sisterhood. But perhaps the most exciting news for fans is that Blu*3 is working on new music!

Tusker Malt Conversessions once again proved to be the ultimate stage for raw, unfiltered artistry as legendary girl group Blu*3 took center stage on Sunday, March 2. The emotional episode saw Lilian Mbabazi, Cindy Sanyu, and Jackie Chandiru open up about their past, their struggles, and their future as a group.
One of the biggest revelations was the pain behind their breakup years ago. Jackie admitted that her greatest disappointment wasn’t the words exchanged but the lack of effort to stay together.
“It was never about the words said to each other; my issue was the disintegration. We didn’t fight to stay together. I had expected so much from the group—I expected us to take over the entire world,” she revealed.
Cindy confessed that she once believed rumors that the group and its management were trying to sabotage her solo career.
“I had a lot of anger, and I believed it. But after a couple of years, I realized—these girls are like my sisters.” Lilian was quick to reassure Cindy, saying, “Just to reassure you, we did not have that plot.”

“We’ve already gone to the studio. We have our single out, Guma, but we want to record an EP,” Lilian confirmed.
As they reflected on life after the breakup, Jackie admitted to feeling scared and even jealous when Cindy left the group. “I was used to having backup on stage. Also, I got to a point where I didn’t have people to talk to. I was jealous, period. On a scale of 1-100, I was 65% angry.”
When it came to regrets, Cindy was firm: “Everything that has happened has led us to where we are now, and somehow, it’s all worth it.” Lilian added, “Even Lot’s wife looked back and turned into salt. It doesn’t solve anything. We learn from the consequences of what we did.”
Beyond the heartfelt confessions, Elizabeth Mutamuliza, Head of Beer at UBL, emphasized Tusker Malt’s commitment to celebrating authentic artistry.
“As a brand that champions craftsmanship, excellence, and the finest talent, we are proud to celebrate the stories behind the artists. Blu*3’s journey is one we are honored to have delivered to fans,” she said.
For those who can’t get enough of these intimate and engaging conversations, the next Conversessions episode airs on April 6, featuring another top artist. Mark your calendars for another unforgettable deep dive into music’s finest!
