Police investigate murder of bicycle repairer in Omoro District

Ojok, a well-known bicycle repairer in the area, had deep cuts and severe head injuries, suggesting he may have been killed by an armed individual or a mob.

The Territorial Police in Omoro District are investigating the suspected murder of a 53-year-old man whose lifeless body was discovered early Wednesday morning in Ora-Pwoyo Sub-County.

The deceased, Charles Ojok, a resident of Oriang B Village, was found by locals lying along the roadside in Corner Gula Trading Centre at around 6:00 am on December 11, 2024.

Ojok, a well-known bicycle repairer in the area, had deep cuts and severe head injuries, suggesting he may have been killed by an armed individual or a mob.

Richard Alima, the LC3 Chairperson of the neighboring Lalogi Sub-County, visited the scene and confirmed the incident.

“The deceased’s body had multiple deep cuts on the head. It is suspected that he may have been beaten to death by a mob,” Alima said.

Local authorities contacted the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Omoro Central Police Station (CPS), which responded by examining the scene and transporting the body for a post-mortem.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson, acknowledged the report of the suspected murder but noted that further details were awaited from the District Police Commander.

Chairperson Alima highlighted the alarming recurrence of such crimes in the area, mentioning two similar cases in the past year and a half, where a young man and an elderly woman were murdered. He urged police and local leaders to enhance security measures to curb the rising violence.

By Wednesday evening, the police had yet to release detailed findings about the incident. Residents and local leaders are calling for a thorough investigation to ensure justice for Ojok and address the growing concerns about safety in the community.

Investigations into the tragic incident are ongoing.
