Morocco has been officially confirmed as a host for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, becoming the second African nation to host football’s premier event, following South Africa’s groundbreaking 2010 tournament.

The decision was announced during an Extraordinary FIFA Congress held via video conference, with all 211 FIFA Member Associations participating. Morocco will co-host the tournament alongside Spain and Portugal in a joint bid that earned high praise, scoring an impressive 4.2 out of 5 in FIFA’s evaluation of hosting standards.

The 2030 World Cup will mark the centenary of the inaugural tournament held in Uruguay in 1930. To honor this milestone, the opening matches will be played in South America, with Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay hosting games before the competition shifts to Morocco, Spain, and Portugal for the remaining fixtures.
