Museveni welcomes Organisation of African ,Caribben and Pacific States secretary General, supports relocation of headquarters to Africa
Museveni made the remarks on Tuesday at State House, Entebbe, after meeting OACPS Secretary General H.E. Moussa Saleh Batraki.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has expressed Uganda’s support for the proposal to relocate the headquarters of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) from Europe, saying the move would strengthen the organisation’s independence.
Museveni made the remarks on Tuesday at State House, Entebbe, after meeting OACPS Secretary General H.E. Moussa Saleh Batraki.
The President said Africans in the Caribbean and indigenous peoples of the Pacific are part of Africa’s extended family, emphasizing the need for stronger cooperation among OACPS member states.
He noted that moving the OACPS headquarters would better reflect the interests and priorities of its member countries while enhancing the organisation’s autonomy.
“Uganda is ready to support this effort and deepen cooperation with the OACPS,” Museveni said.
The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships between Uganda and the OACPS, an organisation that brings together African, Caribbean and Pacific countries to promote sustainable development, cooperation and shared interests.
