Rashford back on song as Man Utd end Arsenal’s winning start

Manchester United ended Arsenal’s 100 percent start to the season and moved up to fifth in the Premier League with a 3-1 win at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Two second half goals from Marcus Rashford ensured the win for an impressive Manchester United, who look more solid in defense with every game.

Brighton remain in the top-four, while Leicester City are still rooted to the bottom of the table after Graham Potter’s side recovered after conceding an early goal to win 5-2.

Leicester took the lead after just 52 seconds, thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho, but defensive errors saw Luke Thomas score an own-goal, before Moses Caicedo put Brighton ahead.

Patson Daka equalized for Leicester before halftime, but Brighton dominated after the break with a goal from Leandro Trossard and two from Alexis MacAllister.

On Saturday, the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool failed to produce any goals, but there was plenty of goalmouth action and entertainment, with both sides hitting the woodwork and both keepers making a string of good saves in a typically feisty derby.

Erling Haaland netted his 10th goal of the season for Manchester City, but also saw two other good chances well saved by Aston Villa keeper, Emiliano Martinez before Leon Bailey’s thunderbolt claimed a point for Villa, which helps lift come of the pressure off Steven Gerrard.

West Ham were unhappy to see an injury time goal ruled out for a dubious foul on Chelsea keeper, Edouard Mendy as they lost 2-1 away to Chelsea.

Michal Antonio put West Ham ahead in the 62nd minute, but former West Ham player, Ben Chilwell poked home the equalizer in the 76th minute.

West Ham hit the post in the 87th minute, just a minute before Kai Havertz won the game with a near-post finish.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Kane both scored to give Tottenham a 2-1 win at home to a dogged Fulham, although Aleksandar Mitrovic’s 6th goal of the season ensured a nervous finish.

Ivan Toney netted a hat-trick as Brentford won 5-2 at home to Leeds United, with Bryan Mbeumo scoring the fourth for the ‘Bees’ and Yoane Wissa adding a fifth, while new signings Luis Sinisterra and Marc Roca were on target for Leeds.

Daniel Podence’s goal in first time injury time gave Wolverhampton a 1-0 triumph at home to Southampton, to end a run of 12 matches without a win.

Newcastle and Crystal Palace drew 0-0 in another game with plenty of chances but no goals, although the VAR ruled one out for Newcastle, while Bournemouth fought back from 2-0 down to win a game between recently promoted sides, 3-2 away to Nottingham Forrest.

Big-spending Forrest went in 2-0 at the break thanks to Cheikhou Kouyate and Brennan Johnson’s penalty, but Philip Billing pulled a goal back for Bournemouth six minutes after the break, and Dominic Solanke equalized 12 minutes later, before Jaidon Anthony’s winner three minutes from time sent the visiting fans into raptures just a week after their 9-0 thrashing against Liverpool.
