Alien Skin, bodyguard remanded over assault of Nsambya Hospital staff

According to the State prosecution, Alien Skin, along with Julio and others still at large, stormed St. Francis Hospital Nsambya on the night of November 19, 2024.

Controversial Ugandan musician Patrick Mulwana, popularly known as Alien Skin, and his bodyguard, Julius Mugabi, alias Julio, have been remanded to Luzira Prison until Thursday, November 28, 2024, on charges of causing grievous harm to doctors at St. Francis Hospital Nsambya.

The duo appeared before Makindye Chief Magistrate Ms. Esther Adikini on Monday, November 25, where they were formally charged with three counts of grievous harm in connection with an incident that went viral following a video clip shared last week.

Alien Skin, who is best known for his hit song Sitya Danger, arrived at the court premises during a morning downpour, dressed in a black jacket, wearing a face mask, and handcuffed with his head covered by a woven hoodie. Despite the charged atmosphere, he appeared calm and lost in thought, possibly reflecting on his recent actions.

According to the State prosecution, Alien Skin, along with Julio and others still at large, stormed St. Francis Hospital Nsambya on the night of November 19, 2024.

They allegedly assaulted hospital staff, including Dr. Zaidi Matovu, Alex Odongo, and Anthony Munyanda. The incident reportedly stemmed from the musicians’ demands for answers regarding the death of their colleague, Joram Tumwesigye, 28, a resident of Makindye Division, who passed away at the hospital.

Alien and Julio were arrested the following day, Wednesday, November 20. Alien Skin was remanded to Luzira Prison in connection with a previous case involving the alleged robbery of Haruna Mubiru’s son, Salim Mubiru, of an iPhone 15 valued at Shs3.5 million, Shs480,000 in cash, and a wallet containing a national ID on September 28, 2024. Julio was also arraigned in court on the same day and charged before being sent to Luzira.

The pair were brought back to court on November 25 for the Nsambya assault charges. They both denied the allegations and requested bail. However, their bail applications were denied, and they were remanded until Thursday, November 28, for a bail hearing and further mention of their case.
