Bournemouth Sack Scott Parker After Four Matches Of New Season

Parker had taken Bournemouth to promotion from the Championship last season and won the first game of the new season at home to Aston Villa.

Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth have sacked head coach Scott Parker after just four games of the new season.

Parker has lost his job just four days after Bournemouth lost 9-0 away to Liverpool in what was the joint worst Premier League defeat in history.

Owner Maxim Demin commented on the club’s website that he would “like to place on record my gratitude to Scott and his team for their efforts during their time with us. Our promotion back to the Premier League last season under his tenure will always be remembered as one of the most successful seasons in our history.”

“However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another.” he added.

Parker had taken Bournemouth to promotion from the Championship last season and won the first game of the new season at home to Aston Villa.

However, his side then faced a daunting run of games against title holders Manchester City, league leaders Arsenal, and Liverpool, losing 4-0, 3-0 and 9-0.

Parker had highlighted the gulf in class between his side and their rivals and had asked for new signings, but so far, the club have only spent around 20 million euros to bring in Marcos Senesi from Feyenoord and Marcus Tavernier from second-tier Middlesbrough, while Ryan Fredericks and Joe Rothwell have come in on free transfers from West Ham and Blackburn Rovers.

Gary O’Neil will be in charge for Bournemouth’s home match against Wolves on Wednesday night, while the club looks for Parker’s permanent replacement.
