FUFA hands over Kadiba Stadium for AFCON 2027 pitch redevelopment

The stadium, which served as a training venue during the recently concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN), will undergo further improvements to meet Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has handed over FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, to the National Council of Sports (NCS) for pitch redevelopment as preparations intensify to make the facility suitable for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The stadium, which served as a training venue during the recently concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN), will undergo further improvements to meet Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards.

The planned upgrades will focus on key areas, including the playing surface, floodlighting system, and drainage infrastructure, aimed at enhancing the quality and functionality of the facility.

FUFA said the handover marks another milestone in efforts to strengthen Uganda’s football infrastructure ahead of the continental tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania

The brief handover ceremony was attended by State Minister for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang; NCS Chairman Ambrose Tashobya; FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim and other FUFA officials, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Works and Transport and the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs.

The redevelopment of Kadiba Stadium is part of broader preparations to ensure Uganda’s sporting facilities are ready to support AFCON 2027 activities.
