Gov’t deploys medical interns with a one million Shillings monthly pay promise

Dr Henry Mwebesa, the Director of General Health Services at the health ministry, said the ministry has received clearance to deploy medical interns to 58 internship centres across the country.

The government of Uganda through the Ministry of Health will pay medical interns One Million Shillings if they return to their training centres, the Ministry of Health has said in a Press Release dated 27th July 2023.

In the Press Release, Dr Henry Mwebesa, the Director of General Health Services at the health ministry, said the ministry has received clearance to deploy medical interns to 58 internship centres across the country.

“Subsequently, the Ministry of Health has released a deployment list for the interns under revised terms as guided by the government.  The delayed deployment was occasioned by factors beyond the control of the Ministry of Health,” Mwebesa said.

“Government will therefore deploy the 1901 medical interns within the available budget at a net monthly allowance of UGX1, 000, 000,”

“All medical interns are expected to report to their various training centers by 3 August 2023. The respective hospital directors will issue te interns with deployment letters and organize for their induction,”
