Parliament explains why police towed Zaake’s Vehicle that was given to him as commissioner
The Director Communication and Public Affairs at Parliament, Chris Obore, said that the Clerk had severally advised Zaake to follow the guidelines governing management of government fleet and return the car but he declined.
The parliamentary police, on orders of the Clerk to Parliament retrieved the government vehicle registration number UG 0333H which had been given to Mityana Municipality MP, Zaake Francis, during his tenure as Parliament Commissioner.
According to a statement from the Clerk to Parliament, the vehicle which belonged to the Parliamentary Commission was retrieved after Zaake’s refusal to return the vehicle which is a government property, which by policy is supposed to be driven by an official driver.

“The Clerk to Parliament had severally advised Zaake to follow the guidelines governing management of government fleet and returns the car but he declined. The police have delivered the car and it’s safe at parliament parking,” Obore said.
However, following his removal from the role over misconduct in March last year, he had been ordered by the Clerk to Parliament to return the vehicle.
He had had been accused of misconduct following his alleged abusive tweets directed towards then deputy Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among.
