MTN Uganda has announced the appointment of three distinguished leaders to its executive team: Thomas Motlepa as Chief Technology & Information Officer (CTIO), Franklin Ocharo as General Manager of Growth & New Business, and Peace Kabatangare as General Manager of Internal Audit & Forensics.

Thomas Motlepa – Chief Technology & Information Officer
Thomas Motlepa brings over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and technology sectors to his new role as CTIO at MTN Uganda. Known for his leadership in network optimization, digital transformation, and operational efficiency, Thomas has held key leadership positions across several MTN markets, including Ghana, Zambia, and Nigeria. During his time in Ghana, he spearheaded the rollout of 4G services, significantly enhancing network performance and customer satisfaction.
At MTN Uganda, Thomas is tasked with driving technological innovations and ensuring the company’s network capabilities remain robust and future-ready. His leadership has already been instrumental in optimizing MTN’s infrastructure and delivering cutting-edge services to customers. Thomas’s approach combines deep technical expertise with a customer-first mindset, ensuring that MTN Uganda continues to lead in providing reliable and innovative digital and Telecommunication solutions.
Franklin Kano Ocharo – General Manager, Growth & New Business
Franklin Ocharo joins MTN Uganda with over 18 years of experience in product management, business development, and commercial strategy. His career has been marked by his ability to drive growth through innovative products and market expansion. Prior to joining MTN Uganda, Franklin played a pivotal role at Safaricom PLC, where he tripled the number of homes connected to fixed data services and introduced converged mobile solutions that enhanced customer retention and satisfaction.
At MTN Uganda, Franklin’s focus will be on expanding the company’s market reach and developing new business avenues. His expertise in leveraging data analytics and understanding customer needs will be critical to identifying emerging opportunities and delivering tailored solutions. Franklin’s strategic vision will enable MTN to continue leading the digital transformation in Uganda, enhancing customer engagement and driving sustainable growth.
Peace Kabatangare – General Manager of Internal Audit & Forensics
Peace Kabatangare, a Chartered Accountant with over 13 years of experience in internal audit, risk management, and forensics, takes on the role of General Manager of Internal Audit & Forensics at MTN Uganda. In her previous role as Chief Internal Auditor at New Vision Printing and Publication Company Ltd, Peace led efforts to strengthen governance and enhance internal controls, bringing a wealth of expertise in compliance and operational efficiency.
At MTN Uganda, Peace will oversee the company’s internal audit and consulting activities, ensuring that operations are aligned with best practices in governance and accountability. Her efforts will support the company’s goal of maintaining high standards of integrity and transparency. Under her leadership, MTN Uganda will continue to optimize its processes and mitigate risks, reinforcing its commitment to responsible business practices.
