UEDCL announces power shutdown in Greater Mbale

The affected areas include Mbale City, Pallisa, Kibuku, Butebo, Budaka, Bukedea, Kapchorwa, Sironko, Bulambuli, Kween, Bukwo, and several surrounding communities.

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has announced a planned power shutdown in Greater Mbale on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 8:00am to 5:00pm

According to UEDCL, the outage will allow the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) to carry out critical maintenance and system improvement works at the Mbale Mobile Substation.

The affected areas include Mbale City, Pallisa, Kibuku, Butebo, Budaka, Bukedea, Kapchorwa, Sironko, Bulambuli, Kween, Bukwo, and several surrounding communities.

UEDCL has advised customers to switch off electrical appliances and production equipment during the shutdown period until power supply is fully restored, apologising for any inconvenience caused.
