At the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar, Uganda Cranes will be hopeful that a good performance against the Zanzibaris will acclimatize and put them in shape to whip Tanzania in the CHAN qualifier on Sunday, 28th August at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium.
The Ugandan side is in Zanzibar for a friendly match today to help them with preparation for the forthcoming two-leged CHAN Qualifiers against Tanzania.
The team arrived in Zanzibar on Monday after four days in Ethiopia where a friendly game was played on Sunday against Ethiopia National Team, ending goalless.
Coach Milutin Sredojevic also known as Micho believes camping in Zanzibar is important to his charges in acclimatizing to the conditions in Tanzania.
Zanzibar is part of Tanzania and our major reason for coming here is to get used to the conditions before Sunday’s encounter in Dar es Salaam,” he said.
“Secondly, playing against Zanzibar gives us a clear picture of what we are likely to face against Tanzania and therefore this game is important in our preparations.” Added Micho.
The first leg of the CHAN Qualifiers will take place on Sunday, 28th August at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium while the return leg will happen on 3rd September at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The winner on aggregation between Uganda and Tanzania will qualify for the final tournament slated for January next year in Algeria.
