Rotary and Centenary Bank ignite hope with 2025 Cancer Run activation at Nsambya Hospital

Leaders from Rotary Districts 9213 and 9214, alongside key partners including lead sponsor Centenary Bank, gathered this morning at Nsambya Hospital to officially launch the activation for the Rotary Cancer Run 2025. The event marked a crucial moment of reflection, recommitment, and a powerful rallying cry in the ongoing fight against cancer.
The activation ceremony convened a distinguished assembly, including Mr. Fabian Kasi, Managing Director of Centenary Bank, serving as the Lead Sponsor; Mr. Emmanuel Katongole, Rotary International Director Nominee, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest; and Past District Governor (PDG) Stephen Mwanje. The convergence of these influential figures underscored the collective dedication to tackling a disease that touches every life.
Speaking at the Rotary Cancer Run activation, Mr. Fabian Kasi reaffirmed Centenary Bank’s steadfast and long-standing partnership with Rotary International. He highlighted the bank’s significant contributions towards advancing health, education, and environmental initiatives across Uganda, particularly emphasizing their commitment to cancer prevention and care.
Mr. Kasi elaborated on the depth of their support, detailing contributions exceeding UGX 3 billion over 13 years specifically for the Cancer Run. He also noted the bank’s participation in over 300 health camps and their co-funding of critical infrastructure, such as the Rotary-Centenary Cancer Centre and the vital radiation bunkers at Nsambya Hospital. This year alone, Centenary Bank has committed UGX 500 million to the Cancer Run and an additional UGX 300 million to various other Rotary programs, demonstrating an unparalleled level of corporate social responsibility.
In his address, Mr. Kasi extended a heartfelt appeal to all Ugandans, urging them to actively join the noble fight against cancer. He encouraged widespread participation in the upcoming run, emphasizing the importance of supporting early detection initiatives, and championing equitable access to care for all individuals battling the disease.
