Fatherhood is more than biology and provision, says Bobi Wine
Bobi Wine, who is a father himself, has on several occasions spoken about the importance of family values, responsible parenting and mentorship as key pillars for building a better society.

National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has called on fathers to play a greater role in shaping the character and values of their children, saying fatherhood extends far beyond biological ties and financial provision.
In a Father’s Day message shared on Sunday, Bobi Wine paid tribute to fathers and father figures who make sacrifices for the well-being of their families, emphasizing the importance of nurturing future generations.
“Happy Father’s Day to all fathers and father-figures out there who show up and sacrifice unconditionally for the good of their families,” he said.
The opposition leader noted that the responsibilities of fatherhood go beyond providing material support and include instilling values that help children become responsible members of society.
“Fatherhood goes beyond just biology and providing. It is about nurturing character. It’s about teaching humility, honour and respect for oneself and for others,” Bobi Wine said.
He added that fathers have a crucial role in raising children with values that will positively influence future generations.
“It’s about raising children with values that will positively shape the society that their own children will inherit tomorrow,” he stated.
Bobi Wine also used the occasion to pay tribute to his father, J. W. Ssentamu, saying his appreciation for him has deepened with age and experience.
“As I grow older, I respect Mzee J. W. Ssentamu more, and yes, now I understand him even more. Happy Father’s Day,” he said.
The message resonated with many Ugandans celebrating Father’s Day, a global occasion dedicated to recognizing the contribution of fathers and father figures in families and communities.
