Afghanistan Releases 935 Prisoners On Eid Al-Adha

The Afghan authorities have released 935 prisoners on the eve of Eid al-Adha, an annual Muslim festival, the chief spokesman of the Taliban-led caretaker government said on Friday.

The prisoners were pardoned by a decree issued by Haibatullah Akhundzada, supreme leader of the Taliban-run administration, and according to the guidance of the country’s Supreme Court, Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on social media.

He said the prisoners, who had relatively mild cases, were released from prisons in Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.

Afghanistan celebrates Eid al-Adha on July 9-11 this year.
