Kyambogo records highest number of graduates since inception as 12,080 students are passed out

Muyingo thanked the University for the continued support rendered in the education sector, with training that it delivers at all levels, something which has helped teachers not to get affected by the national teacher's policy.

Kyambogo University has graduated 12,080 students in various disciplines, with 6,239 males and 5,841 females.

According to the University, the total number of students in this 18th graduation happens to be the highest since the inception of the institution.

This has been so due to the decentralization of academics to faculties where all students who had retakes were able to be cleared by the deans while others were given amnesty.

While officiating at the event which took place at the university’s graduation grounds, State minister for higher education, John Chrysestom Muyingo, who represented First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni, asked the University to prioritize research and position students for the changing trends in this world.

“The University’s growth in academic leadership and excellence is reflected by the increase in research and the number of PhD graduates. I encourage you to continue growing the number of PhDs and masters, especially in science, technology and engineering, and also train students in being innovative,” he noted.

Muyingo thanked the University for the continued support rendered in the education sector, with training that it delivers at all levels, something which has helped teachers not to get affected by the national teacher’s policy.

Pro. John Yakobo Okedi, the University’s Chancellor noted that it’s their responsibility to nature learners, and therefore once they have any challenges all should be sorted out with dialogues.

“It is our responsibility to always give the best to our students and to nurture them into a good product so that they are able to find their purpose in this world. I am thankful to the student leadership for guiding their fellow students and abiding by the University rules and regulations,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Elly Katunguka, highlighted that students with disabilities have not been left out, and were trained in making low costs but high-value products, in the field of entrepreneurship.
