Parliament reschedules Uganda Human Rights Commission report review meeting
In a letter dated July 21, 2026, the Office of the Clerk to Parliament informed the UHRC Chairperson that the meeting, which was initially scheduled earlier, was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances following the death of former government official Rt. Hon. Gen. Moses Ali.
Parliament has rescheduled a meeting to consider the Auditor General’s report on the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) for the financial year ended December 31, 2025.
In a letter dated July 21, 2026, the Office of the Clerk to Parliament informed the UHRC Chairperson that the meeting, which was initially scheduled earlier, was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances following the death of former government official Rt. Hon. Gen. Moses Ali.
The postponement was caused by a special sitting of Parliament that coincided with the planned engagement, forcing the interface between the Commission and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to be called off.
The meeting has now been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 9:00am in Conference Hall A, South Wing, Parliament House, Kampala.
“The interface was called off due to the special sitting of Parliament that coincided with the time of the meeting,” the Clerk to Parliament stated in the communication.
The Accounting Officer of UHRC, together with members of the Commission, has been directed to attend the meeting in person to respond to queries and provide clarification on the Auditor General’s findings.
The engagement will be conducted by the Public Accounts Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises, which is mandated to scrutinise accountability reports from government institutions.
