Uganda launches 4th EITI report on Oil, Gas and Mining transparency

Report details FY 2022/23 payments, revenues, production trends and policy recommendations

Uganda has officially launched its 4th Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Report, marking another key step in promoting openness within the country’s oil, gas and mining sectors.

The report released by Minister of State for Planning Amos Lugoloobi covers the financial year 1st July 2022 to 30th June 2023, examining activities, production trends and financial flows across the extractive industry.

According to the findings, the document provides a comprehensive breakdown of reconciled payments made by extractive companies and the corresponding revenues received by government entities. It also highlights the sector’s economic contribution, tracks performance indicators, and offers policy recommendations intended to strengthen governance and sustainability.

While launching the report, Lugoloobi noted that Uganda’s commitment to EITI goes beyond meeting global standards, it plays a vital role in reinforcing the country’s internal accountability mechanisms.

“Transparency is not only a guardrail against corruption but a catalyst for investment and a foundation for inclusive growth,” he said.

The 4th EITI Report is expected to inform policy, guide investment decisions, and support Uganda’s preparations as the country moves steadily towards commercial oil production.
