UNEB starts marking UPE, UCE national exams
We have a total of 33 marking centres, of which 13 will be used for marking PLE scripts, while 20 are for marking UCE and UACE examinations.
The process of marking both the UCE and PLE scripts has commenced, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the Principal Public Relations Officer of the Uganda National Examination Board, reveals. She said the marking is now ongoing at their coordination centres.
“The scripts have been sorted for transfer to the various marking centres. We have a total of 33 marking centres, of which 13 will be used for marking PLE scripts, while 20 are for marking UCE and UACE examinations,” she said.
“About 6,000 examiners have been invited for marking at the PLE level, while 8,000 have been contracted to mark the UCE examination. We expect to release the first set of results, which is PLE, during the 3rd week of January 2024,” she added.
She noted that the Board is grateful to all the partners who support them in the field of conducting examinations. These include the contracted professionals, security agencies, the judiciary that have attended to the cases of malpractice, the media, and members of the public who have constantly given whistle-blower alerts.
She reiterated that UNEB conducts a valid, reliable, equitable, and quality assessment of learners’ achievement in a professional and innovative manner, for the award of internationally recognized certificates.
She said UNEB is working with the police to investigate and establish the source of the misleading information, and once found, the culprits will be brought to book.
