Bobi Wine ignores RDC directives regarding opening of NUP office in Kavule
The NUP president lamented how President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has messed up the country to an extent that a Deputy RDC feels powerful enough to block a legitimate activity of a registered political party.
The President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, aka Bobi Wine, has declined to abide by a letter allegedly written from the Office of the Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Kawempe division in Kampala stopping the grand opening of NUP office at Kavule on Thursday 2nd November 2023.
According to Kyagulanyi, the letter has no legal basis other than claiming that many activities shall be happening on the proposed date of opening the party office. Responding to the letter, Bobi Wine said that they don’t intend to comply to illegal orders of the deputy RDC.
The NUP president lamented how President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has messed up the country to an extent that a Deputy RDC feels powerful enough to block a legitimate activity of a registered political party.
In the letter dated 31st October 2023, addressed to the Secretary General of NUP, the Deputy RDC of Kawempe said there won’t be enough security personnel on that day. The Deputy RDC advised NUP to postpone their activity to another date, something that opposition political party has refused to do.
Bobi Wine on social media said: “We’ve received this ridiculous letter from the Deputy RDC – Kawempe purporting to stop the grand opening of our new offices at Kavule on Thursday. He cites no legal basis, other than claiming that many other activities shall be happening that same day! We’ve responded telling him that we don’t intend to comply with his illegal orders!”
