Rev. Fr. Constantine Rupiny appointed bishop of Nebbi diocese

Fr. Rupiny, a priest from Nebbi Diocese, has been serving as the Rector of Uganda Martyrs’ National Major Seminary Alokolum in Gulu.

The Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, Archbishop Luigi Bianco, has announced a significant leadership change within Nebbi Diocese.

In a statement released on November 26, 2024, Archbishop Bianco confirmed that His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Fr. Constantine Rupiny as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Nebbi.

Fr. Rupiny, a priest from Nebbi Diocese, has been serving as the Rector of Uganda Martyrs’ National Major Seminary Alokolum in Gulu.

“The Apostolic Nunciature congratulates the new Bishop and invokes abundant blessings upon his pastoral ministry in this local Church,” the statement read.

The Nunciature also expressed gratitude to His Grace Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, M.C.C.J., for his service as Apostolic Administrator of Nebbi Diocese.

The diocese has been without a bishop since March 22, 2024, following the appointment of Archbishop Raphael p’Mony Wokorach as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu. On July 12, 2024, he was also named Apostolic Administrator of Nebbi.
