How to update your voter Information for the 2025/2026 elections
The update targets Ugandan citizens aged 18 and above who are not yet registered as voters. Registered voters can also use this opportunity to verify their details or transfer to a new voting location.
The Electoral Commission (EC) began a 21-day exercise on January 20, 2025, to update the National Voters’ Register ahead of the 2025-2026 General Elections.
This exercise runs until February 10 and is conducted daily, including weekends, at designated parish centers across Uganda.
The update targets Ugandan citizens aged 18 and above who are not yet registered as voters. Registered voters can also use this opportunity to verify their details or transfer to a new voting location.
To register, visit your designated update center in person, provide your personal details, and have your photograph, signature, and fingerprints captured on-site.
If you wish to change your voting location, you must present proof of residence or origin within the parish of your preferred polling station. Additionally, you need to provide details of your previous voting location.
The exercise also includes learners who turned 18 after being previously registered by NIRA. These individuals only need to present their National Identification Number (NIN) to choose their polling station. It will also involve updating registers for Special Interest Groups, including youth, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and older persons.
EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi stated that the Commission is actively publicizing the exercise through print, digital media, radio, and television. Over 12,000 parish supervisors have been deployed to assist with the process.
The EC urges all eligible citizens to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure they are registered and prepared to vote in the upcoming elections.
