Nakasiita sets targets as Red Cross spokesperson takes over at PRAU
Over the past two years, Wamala’s leadership has delivered remarkable achievements that have strengthened PRAU’s financial stability, strategic relevance, and visibility within the profession.

The outgoing Governing Council of the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU), led by Tina Wamala, officially handed over the reins to the incoming Governing Council headed by Irene Naksiita, the Director of Communications and Resource Mobilization at the Uganda Red Cross Society.
“I step into this role with deep appreciation for what has been built and a renewed sense of purpose,” Nakasiita said upon swearing in, adding, “Together with the new Governing Council, we will focus on growing PRAU’s impact, fostering continuous professional development, and advancing the PRAU Bill in Parliament to solidify the PR profession in Uganda.”
Over the past two years, Wamala’s leadership has delivered remarkable achievements that have strengthened PRAU’s financial stability, strategic relevance, and visibility within the profession.
The team set up effective governance structures and introduced alternative payment options for the association, such as Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS), launched FlexiPay, secured strategic partnerships with industry leaders, and expanded membership across individual, student, SME, and corporate categories.
During her tenure, Wamala also led the revival of the PRAU Excellence Awards, hosted two successful national PR symposiums, launched the PRAU Student Mentorship Programme, and oversaw Uganda’s hosting of the 2nd East Africa Public Relations Week.
“It has been an honour to serve alongside a passionate team dedicated to advancing our profession. The milestones we’ve achieved reflect the power of collaboration and commitment. I am confident that PRAU’s future is in great hands under Irene’s leadership,” Wamala stated.
That handover ceremony, which took place on Thursday, 24th April, 2025, at the Protea Hotel in Kampala, was graced by George William Nyombi, the Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission, and featured an inspiring keynote address by renowned digital communications expert Patrick Adengo.
