Standard Chartered donates food supplies to Muslim-founded schools in Ramadan outreach
The packages included essential food items commonly used for preparing meals during Ramadan, helping ease the burden on schools and families during the fasting season.
In the spirit of compassion and generosity that defines the holy month of Ramadan, Standard Chartered has partnered with Salaam Charity to donate assorted food supplies to three Muslim-founded schools in Kampala to support students and staff observing the fasting period.
The food donations were delivered by Standard Chartered staff alongside their client MultiChoice to Jakayz Secondary School in Kabowa, Namasuba School in Namasuba, and Asiyah Kids Academy in Kiteezi. The packages included essential food items commonly used for preparing meals during Ramadan, helping ease the burden on schools and families during the fasting season.
The annual initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting communities during significant cultural and religious moments, while also assisting institutions that play a vital role in nurturing the next generation.
The handover of the donations was led by Margaret Kigozi, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing at Standard Chartered Uganda, who was joined by colleagues from the bank during visits to the schools.

Speaking during the engagements, Kigozi said the gesture aligns with the bank’s Diversity and Inclusion agenda, which aims to support both its workforce and the wider community.
“Ramadan is a time for introspection, empathy and generosity. It is also a time to celebrate the rich religious and cultural traditions that define the vibrant communities we work in,” she said.
“At Standard Chartered, we believe in walking alongside our communities during moments that matter most. Through our three-year partnership with Salaam Charity, we have had the opportunity to break the fast with various Muslim communities. We hope this small contribution helps make the fasting period a little easier for the beneficiaries and brings us closer to those observing this holy month.”
The visits also provided an opportunity for bank staff to interact with students and school leadership, highlighting the importance of education, community solidarity and shared responsibility.
Through partnerships with organisations such as Salaam Charity, Standard Chartered Uganda says it will continue supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and promote inclusive growth across the country.
