Alexandra Medical Center speaks out on MP Hellen Nakimuli death but says nothing useful

We have been in contact with her family, and we continue to hold them in our hearts and prayers. Our doors remain open to them, and the member of our team that was in charge of her care will continue to offer support where necessary,” the statement added.

The public has been impatiently waiting for communication from Alexandra Medical Center hoping that the health facility will details about the circumstances that led to the death of Hellen Nakimuli, the district woman MP for Kalangala district, who had checked in for an unamed minor surgery.

However, many Ugandans were left dismayed after the medical center provided no useful detail explaining what health condition killed the MP. Instead, Alexandra Medical Center issued a statement mourning Nakimuli’s death on April 19.

The facility’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Castro Kisuule, described Nakimuli’s death as a profound loss not only to her family but also to her constituents and the country at large.

“The passing of Hon. Hellen Nakimuli has weighed deeply on every member of our team,” the statement read. “She was not just a patient. She was a daughter, a leader, and a devoted servant of her people.”

The hospital extended condolences to Nakimuli’s family, loved ones, and the people of Kalangala, noting that it has maintained contact with the bereaved family and continues to offer support during the difficult period.

“We have been in contact with her family, and we continue to hold them in our hearts and prayers. Our doors remain open to them, and the member of our team that was in charge of her care will continue to offer support where necessary,” the statement added.

Alexandra Medical Center emphasized its commitment to providing compassionate and ethical care to all patients, regardless of their status, stressing that the loss of any patient is deeply felt by its staff.

“We are a family of medical professionals who chose this calling because we care deeply about human life. The loss of any patient is never routine for us. It is always personal,” Dr. Kisuule said.

The facility also called for calm and patience among the public, urging Ugandans to keep Nakimuli’s family in prayer as they navigate the grieving period.

Nakimuli’s death has drawn widespread condolences across the country, with leaders and citizens alike paying tribute to her service and dedication to the people of Kalangala.

For now, members of the public will have to wait a little longer to have their questions answered once authorities issue a proper and detailed report regarding Nakimuli’s death.
