National Unity Platform (NUP) supporter Paul Musoke has died after succumbing to severe injuries sustained in a suspected arson attack last week.
Musoke was reportedly trapped inside his house, where attackers allegedly locked the door, nailed it shut, and set the house on fire while he was asleep. He was rescued and rushed to Kiruddu Hospital, where he spent several days receiving treatment before passing away.
The death of Musoke was confirmed by his colleagues, who described him as a brave comrade and expressed hope that those behind the “cruel act” would be brought to justice.
NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya visited Kiruddu Hospital following the sad news and mourned Musoke’s passing.
Musoke was known among NUP supporters for his involvement during the campaign period, where he was seen serving as part of the security detail for party leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
His death has sparked mourning among supporters, with calls for investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
