A Significant Number Of Bystanders Killed After Mercedes Truck Veers Off The Road In Bulenga
Between 2nd June and 9th July, Uganda Police reported 328 accidents that occurred during that period. Of these, 62 accidents were fatal, 180 were serious and 86 were minor.
Road accidents continue to claim the lives of Ugandans, the latest being an accident that today happened at Nakuwadde – Bulenga, Wakiso district involving a Mercedes Truck.
The heavy-duty truck with registration number plate KBN 963A veered off the road, overturned and killed a yet-to-be-specified number of people standing on the roadside.
A research dissertation report authored by Richard Turyahikayo for his master’s in management studies (logistics and transport management) at Uganda Management Institute indicated that road traffic accidents result from the interaction of several factors associated with the traffic system.
According to Turyahikayo’s research, the factors include the population behaviour, the road environment and the motor vehicle condition.

Uganda Police has urged Ugandans to be careful when using the roads and to keep their vehicles in good mechanical condition; however, this is ignored by motorists.
