The Executive Director of New Life Schools Buwaida, Eng. Isabirye Gerald said that their education model is in line with the Ugandan curriculum adding that they will teach everything as required by the government.
On Saturday, 28th January 2023, all eyes of people in Busoga were on Buyende district as the Kyabazinga His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV was in Buwaidha village to launch a school.
The Kyabazinga was in the company of the kingdom’s Prime Minister Owek. Muvawala Joseph Nsekere, ministers, culture leaders, district leaders and educationists.
At about 2:10 pm, the Kyabazinga and his entourage reached the campus of New Life Schools Buwaidha bracing the afternoon sunshine to launch the school’s kindergarten building and broke the ground for the stored primary school mega building.
As expected the people of Buyende showed their king love when they welcomed him with ululations, cheers, dances, sounds of cultural drums, smiles and a standing ovation.
Each person who got a chance to speak welcomed the Kyabazinga and their unending love. They wished the ever-elegant king good health and long-lasting life to rule over the Busoga kingdom.
Many speakers highlighted the educational weaknesses that have engulfed Buyende district for years and expressed their delight in receiving New Life Schools – a modern education project, the first of its kind in the district.
Members of the community noted that the new school will save parents from taking their children to far districts like Kampala, Jinja, Iganga, Kaliro and Kamuli in search of quality education. This problem, they said, has been solved by the coming of New Life School.
The Executive Director of New Life Schools, Eng Isabirye Gerald, said they are starting with the opening of the kindergarten section, and soon, the primary section. The Kyabazinga commissioned the construction of the primary section complex.
“We are going to start with 150 pupils in nursery section – fifty in baby class, another fifty in middle class and fifty in top class,” Eng. Isabirye told the Kyabazinga. The Kyabazinga had earlier made a tour of the magnificent kindergarten complex.
The chairperson of Buyende district, Michael Kanaku, told the Kyabazinga that while the performance of primary schools in the district is still poor, there is an improvement as compared to about 20 years when the district barely registered a first grade in the national Primary leaving Examination.
He revealed that in the 2022 Primary leaving Examinations, the district registered 225 pupils in first grade. Kanaku said that with the coming of schools like New Life Schools Buwaidha, the district will benefit. This is good for the education sector in Buyende, he said.
The district woman Member of Parliament (MP), Mary Annet Nakato, through the Kingdom’s Prime Minister, urged the kingdom to provide a transformer to power the school due to unreliable electricity supply.
The lead pastor of the Kampala-based New Life Church, Dr. Wandera Richmond, said that New Life Schools Buwaida is a community school that seeks to provide quality education to vulnerable children in dignifying environment adding that the vision of the school is to train a generation of Godly leaders who will serve nations.
Present at the ceremony was the Issabalangira of Busoga Samuel Zirabamuzale Menhya, Busoga Kingdom’s Speaker George Mutyabule, Busoga Kingdom’s Permanent Secretary Godfrey Samanya Sajjabi, Kingdom Ministers, Members of Parliament, Buyende L.C 5 Michael Kanaku, Buyende RDC and other leaders among others.
In his speech, the Kyabazinga who is also the Patron of New Life Schools Buwaida narrated to his subjects how the idea of starting the school was reached in Buwaida.
He said that school-going children used to trek a distance of five kilometres to go to the nearby school and this is one of the many reasons that were based on establishing New Life Schools.
The Kyabazinga implored leaders in Buyende to support the New Life Schools projects to uplift the academic performances in the district.
May God bless the busoga kingdom
