Burial program of NUP’s deceased lawyer Anthony Wemali released

Wemali's death was announced by NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, on 8th February 2023.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has released the burial program of their former head of the party’s legal department, Anthony Wameli, who last month died in a hospital in the United States.

According to the program shared by Joel Ssenyonyi, the NUP spokesperson, there will be a public viewing of Wemali’s body on Friday 3rd March 2023, at 5:00 pm at the NUP head office in Makerere -Kavule in celebration of his defence of Human Rights.

Thereafter, between 7:00 am to 7:00 am, there will be a vigil and wake at his home in Kyetume, Gayaza. That morning, on 4th March 2023, between 8:00 am and 10:00 am, the cortege will make a stop at Ebenezer Faith Worship Centre at Kanyanya for viewing and final farewell.

After, between 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, there will be a funeral service at Redeemed Christian Church of God in Kyebando. Immediately after, the cortege will start the journey to Namisindwa for a vigil at the ancestral home between 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.

On Sunday, between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm, there will be a farewell service at Namisindwa Sports Ground and eventually his burial at 2:00 pm.

Wemali’s death was announced by NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, on 8th February 2023.

Wameli was 2021 admitted to St. Anthony medical center in Kasangati, Wakiso district, due to stomach-related complications.

The lawyer was a few weeks later, in June 2021, flown to the Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts in the United States of America for further treatment.

It was then revealed that he was battling stage four cancer and it is where he died.
