The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, has directed Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) to set a special mathematic paper for the 23 Primary Seven candidates from St. Christine Primary School, Kakumiro district.

The pupils on November 8, 2022, missed the final mathematic paper over failure to arrive at the examination centre on time.

Reports indicated that the director of St. Christine Primary School, Kakumiro, Pascal Senvubu, delayed ferrying candidates to Mpasana Model examination centre where they were writing their PLE from.

They arrived at the centre one hour after the start of the mathematics paper, failing the candidates to sit for the paper.

This irked parents who stormed St. Christine School demanding that management why they failed to make adequate transport arrangements to deliver the pupils in time to sit their paper.

But now there is a ray of hope after the education minister heeded the public outcry to have the pupils sit a special paper to save their academic year.

The UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo said: “It was agreed that considering the exceptional circumstances under which the vulnerable candidates missed their examination, after fulfilling all the requirements, the Board administers another mathematics paper to the affected candidates”.
