Four Mbale City officials interdicted over alleged misconduct
In a letter dated July 22, 2026, addressed to the Mbale City Town Clerk, Permanent Secretary Ben Kumumanya instructed that the officials be interdicted with immediate effect in accordance with section F-s 14 of the public service standing orders, 2021.

The Ministry of Local Government has directed the interdiction of four senior Mbale City officials to pave way for investigations into allegations of gross negligence of duty, abuse of office, mismanagement of public resources and possible financial impropriety.
In a letter dated July 22, 2026, addressed to the Mbale City Town Clerk, Permanent Secretary Ben Kumumanya instructed that the officials be interdicted with immediate effect in accordance with Section F-s 14 of the Public Service Standing Orders, 2021.
The affected officials are Principal Civil Engineer Eng. Kasaata Edson, Principal Health Officer (Environmental Health) Charles Wandera, Senior Civil Engineer Eng. Wanasolo Anthony, and Senior Physical Planner Fred Nambafu.
The decision follows a meeting convened by the Minister of Local Government in Mbale, where several concerns were raised against the officers, which the ministry said had affected service delivery in the city.
The investigations will be conducted by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and other relevant government agencies.
The directive was copied to the Minister and State Minister for Local Government, the Inspector General of Government, the Head of Public Service, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Resident City Commissioner and the Mayor of Mbale City.
