Fourteen-year-old maid stabs toddler to death

Police will conduct further investigations into the day and are also uncertain about her allegations of being tortured by the parents of the victim.

Police is investigating the murder of a 10 months baby, Baraka Johnson Jonathan Desire, who was stabbed to death by his 14-year-old caretaker, Nsumbatara Fairuz.

According to Police, the deceased was a son of Ochen Peter and Ameri Joyce Bridget, all security guards working with Cyclops Defense Security.

The deceased was stabbed to death continuously at their home in Quarter Zone, Najjanankumbi II Parish.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Oweyisigire, said the suspect confessed to murdering the deceased.

According to police, the suspect says the deceased’s parents tortured her and stopped her from leaving their home because they wanted her to take care of the toddler.

“She saw that what was keeping her at that home was the child. Therefore, she wished that if these people didn’t have this child, she would move and do whatever she wanted. Hence she had to kill this baby in a gruesome way,” he added.

Upon being arrested by police, the suspect was taken back to the crime scene for the reconstruction of the murder which later on helped police in recovering the knife.

The Children’s Act of 1995 section 89 provides the minimum age of criminal responsibility to be 12 years. This means any child above the age of 12 years is capable of committing a certain offence.

It also adds that remand shall not exceed 6 months in case of offences like murder.
