Guard who shot himself dead at Mukwasi House was working with a female colleague at night – Police

As part of the investigation process, witness statements have been recorded, and relevant exhibits have been recovered by police.

Police at Wandegeya are investigating a suspected suicide-by-shooting incident reported Thursday morning. Police identified the victim as Atuhaire Rogers, an employee of SGA Security Company.

According to the Police, Atuhaire had been deployed at the beat for the past two days. He was found dead at the scene.

Luke Oweyisigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said the deceased was discovered by Okudu David, a day guard.

Okudu, who had arrived for duty, reported hearing sound of a gun being cocked but assumed it was a routine safety precaution.

“Atuhaire Rogers was found lying in a pool of blood, with a bullet wound visible on his throat. It had penetrated through his head,” Police said.

Adding: “Investigations have revealed that Atuhaire was working alongside Namumanya Mary for the night duty,”

As part of the investigation process, witness statements have been recorded, and relevant exhibits have been recovered by police.

Oweyisigyire noted that six individuals have been brought in for questioning to assist in the ongoing investigations.

“A comprehensive and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident will be carried out and further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,” said Oweyigyire.
