High Court overturns Shs1.5 Billion bill of costs against estate of late Katimbo

Administrators of former Buganda Kingdom minister Muhammad Katimbo’s estate secure relief after court nullifies massive costs order.

Kampala, Uganda – The High Court in Kampala has overturned a Shs1.5 billion bill of costs that had been imposed on the administrators of the estate of the late businessman and former Buganda Kingdom minister Muhammad Katimbo.

The disputed costs had arisen from an earlier legal process involving the administration of the estate, prompting the administrators to challenge what they described as an excessive and unjustified financial burden.

In its ruling, the High Court found that the Shs1.5 billion bill of costs was irregular and unsupported, setting it aside and offering significant relief to the administrators who have been locked in a protracted dispute over the estate.

Legal analysts say the decision underscores the court’s commitment to fair and proportionate cost awards, especially in matters involving estate administration where beneficiaries may already be grappling with complex succession disputes.

The ruling now clears the way for the administrators to proceed with managing the estate without the weight of the contested financial order.
