High-end tourism marketing team in India to market Uganda

The programme commenced with intensive B2B networking sessions designed to create direct linkages between Ugandan tour operators and India’s leading travel agents, wedding planners, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) organisers.

A team from Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), and Uganda Airlines is in India to promote Uganda.

The high-impact tourism marketing mission to India is aimed at strengthening Uganda’s footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing outbound travel markets.

The delegation is conducting a series of strategic B2B roadshows in New Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. The team will crown its mission with a premier showcase at the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) in Mumbai from February 5 to 7, 2026.

The mission builds on Uganda’s strong performance at OTM 2025, where the Pearl of Africa was named “Most Promising New Destination”. The 2026 engagement seeks to consolidate this momentum, capitalising on the growing demand among Indian travellers for long-haul adventure, cultural, and experiential travel.

The programme commenced with intensive B2B networking sessions designed to create direct linkages between Ugandan tour operators and India’s leading travel agents, wedding planners, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) organisers.

Roadshows in New Delhi and Ahmedabad, held on February 1 and 2, focused on tapping into North and West India’s affluent traveller segments. A lead-in engagement in Mumbai, India’s financial capital, which accounts for more than 60 percent of the country’s outbound tourism, took place on February 3.

From February 5 to 7, Uganda will take centre stage at the Jio World Convention Centre during OTM 2026, one of Asia’s largest travel trade exhibitions, attracting over 50,000 trade visitors. The event will provide a prime platform to showcase Uganda’s refreshed “Explore Uganda” destination brand.

Key highlights of Uganda’s presentation will include promotion of its world-renowned primate tracking experiences, notably mountain gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, alongside the country’s improved accessibility through Uganda Airlines’ direct Mumbai–Entebbe route, which has reduced travel time to under seven hours.

The showcase will also spotlight Uganda’s diverse cultural and adventure tourism offerings, including the Rwenzori Mountains, the source of the River Nile, and the country’s rich cultural heritage, as well as its growing capacity and readiness to host conferences, meetings, and other business events under the MICE tourism segment.

The UTB delegation to India is being led by directors Vincent Operemo and Arach Ojara Margaret, supported on the ground by David Edyelu from the marketing department to ensure seamless execution of the roadshows and exhibition activities.

Commenting on the mission, the Uganda Tourism Board said, “India remains a top-tier strategic market for Uganda. Our objective is to position Uganda as a top-of-mind destination for Indian travellers seeking authentic experiences beyond traditional circuits.

With the convenience of direct flights and our recognition as a promising destination, we invite our Indian partners to discover why Uganda is the ultimate choice for adventure, film tourism, and luxury retreats.”
