A Uganda Red Cross Society response team reports that 15 dead bodies have been recovered from the landslide-affected community in Kasese district, western Uganda.
Red Cross says they received a landslide alert that came in at around 4:00 am from Kasese, Rukoki Sub County, Kasika Village and a few households were feared buried and some people were missing.
A response team was dispatched to support the affected families. And as of midday Wednesday, 15 dead bodies had been recovered and an unknown number still missing.
Red Cross says response action teams continue to offer rescue services together with the local authorities and community responders. The injured are being referred to St. Paul’s Hospital Kasese Municipality for management.
Meanwhile, in Kisoro district, heavy rainfall has caused water logging at the Nyakabande Holding Centre.
