Battered Lord Mayor, Ssaalongo Erias Lukwago has dropped more hints as to why he merely stood there and looked on as the government spokesperson, Zephaniah Ofwono Opondo (ZOO) was hitting him like a punching bag live on NBS TV.

Lukwago reveals in a phone chat how ZOO is a sickly man. So, Lukwago argues, he didn’t want to fight with a sick man since he risked killing him in the process.

“Am a fairer and just person…. I felt compassion for my sickly brother,” the Lord Mayor starts.

Otherwise, he continues,” I would have punched my brother and condemned him to premature death… if I wasn’t compassionate enough.”

Lukwago rejects to be drawn into discussing ZOO’s supposed health issues. He hastens to explain his reluctance to disclose what disease is afflicting ZOO.

He argues that doing it would prompt people to accuse him of stigmatizing ‘ my spoilt brother.’

Ofwono Opondo boxed the Lord Mayor live there on NBS TV. The two had appeared on the popular political show regulated by Charles Mwangushya.

The duo were discussing the just-ended Soroti city parliamentary elections which the ruling NRM candidate won at the expense of the FDC candidate.

Lukwago accused the ruling NRM party of stealing the election which appeared to enrage ZOO who asked Lukwago to stop making the allegations.

Lukwago insisted on discussing the topic which prompted ZOO to get out of his seat and confront the Lord Mayor.

As they say, the rest is history. Lukwago has since vowed to drag ZOO to the courts of law for what he exposed him to.
