Mukono LCV Chairperson urges Nakisunga LCI leaders to embrace government programmes

The call was made during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected leaders held on Friday, August 22, 2026, where Mukono District LCV Chairperson Hon. Francis Lukooya Mukoome reminded the grassroots leaders of their critical role as the first level of government and security in their communities.

Newly elected Local Council I (LCI) leaders in Nakisunga Sub-county, Mukono District, have been urged to prioritise service delivery, accountability, and the interests of all residents as they begin their new term of office.

The call was made during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected leaders held on Friday, August 22, 2026, where Mukono District LCV Chairperson Hon. Francis Lukooya Mukoome reminded the grassroots leaders of their critical role as the first level of government and security in their communities.

Lukooya encouraged the leaders to embrace government programmes and work closely with residents to ensure that development initiatives benefit all eligible citizens.

He advised the chairpersons to be responsible and trustworthy while carrying out their duties, warning them against misuse of official stamps and urging them to seek guidance before approving documents or matters they do not fully understand.

The district chairperson also reminded the leaders of their statutory obligation to hold three council meetings, noting that failure to meet their responsibilities could result in administrative challenges.

On financial management, Lukooya directed the leaders to ensure that all village funds are deposited into official village bank accounts and managed according to established procedures.

He further called on parents and community leaders to promote education by encouraging children to attend school, saying every child has a right to access education.

The ceremony was attended by Nakisunga Sub-county leaders led by Sub-county Chief Henry Ndidde and the technical team.

Nakisunga LC III Chairperson Stephen Mufuwa urged the new leaders to work closely with their communities and ensure that government programmes reach intended beneficiaries. He also cautioned against allowing surveying activities in the sub-county without prior notification to his office.

Mufuwa pledged his support to all LCI chairpersons during their term and assured the district leadership that Nakisunga would remain united and focused on development.

The Mukono South Member of Parliament, Hon. Robert Maseruka reminded the newly elected leaders that they are leaders for all residents regardless of their political choices during elections.

Maseruka urged them to ensure that programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) benefit all eligible community members. He also commended Lukooya for supporting Nakisunga residents with government-provided hoes.

During the ceremony, Lukooya also announced that the Mukono District Service Commission is expected to be constituted soon, paving the way for recruitment of staff and employment opportunities for qualified residents.

The swearing-in marked the start of a new term for Nakisunga’s LCI leaders, with emphasis placed on accountability, peace and security, proper financial management, and effective implementation of government programmes at the grassroots level.
