Parliament wants lifestyle of NSSF’s Byarugaba, Ayota, others audited
The Committee also recommended that the 12th NSSF Board be dissolved by the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Betty Amongi
A Report of the Select Committee on the State of Affairs at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has recommended that the Inspector General of Government (IGG) conducts a lifestyle audit on the former Managing Director (MD) of NSSF Richard Byarugaba.
The Report also wants the IGG to audit the ag MD Ayota Patrick, the Chief Investment Officer Gerald Paul, the Chief Commercial Officer Geoffrey Sajjabi and other officials Benoni Katende, Milton Owor, Geoffrey Barigye, Stevens Mwangye, Gerald Mugabi, Barbara Arimi and report back to Parliament within 60 days from adoption of this report.
Parliament will today debate the Report as presented by the Select Committee Chairperson Mwine Mpaka yesterday; and the Report is expected to be adopted for further action.
The Committee recommends that the IGG should investigate with a view of prosecuting officers Byarugaba, William Okabo, Daniel Batekereza, Joanita Asio, Chancemille Liki and Brian Tindimwebwa involved in the conceptualization, procurement and installation of the Geo Mapping system which caused financial loss of UGX 748, 861, 114.
The Committee also recommended that the 12th NSSF Board be dissolved by the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Betty Amongi with immediate effect and a new board constituted.
The Committee notes that the Board has failed on several occasions as in the report to ensure that there is secure, profitable and effective financial management of the fund for the benefit of the workers in particular and the country at large as stipulated in Section 4 of the NSSF Act (General functions and duties of the Board)
