Police arrests wanted mastermind behind aggravated robberies in Ntoroko district

Enanga noted that the arrest of Basara, the gang leader, is an achievement for Rwenzori West security agencies.

Police in the Rwenzori region last week arrested one of the most wanted notorious criminals known as Saturday Basara Peter.

Basara has been the mastermind of several aggravated robberies in Ntoroko district and the surrounding areas.

The suspect was arrested inside in Bunia in DRC. Now police are hunting for his accomplices Mugume Kiiza, Tibasiima Yokasi, Festo Katusabe Rodgers and Katusabe Haga, all residents of Kanaara and Nyakasheenyi in Ntoroko district.

Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, said the number of guns recovered in this operation has risen to 4, including AK-47s and OSMGs.

Enanga revealed that one of the guns was involved in about 11 robberies.

“They robbed Shs1.5 million from a gentleman called Muhindi Lusiya of Karugutu, Shs24 million from Kahuma Charles of Kanaara, Shs2.7 million from Jonathan Kitokimu of Nyakasenyi and Shs6.5 million robbed from Mayungwe Joel within the Ssemiliki game reserve,” Enanga revealed.

Items robbed include a motorcycle, UFP 798X, from Kagoro Karim which was later recovered in Budiiiba, Shs600, 000 from Muthalinga Willen, a mobile money agent and Shs300, 000 from Mulyaati Harison.

Enanga noted that the arrest of Basara, the gang leader, is an achievement for Rwenzori West security agencies.
