Police post in Kampala suburb attacked by gun men

Recently, police said it had arrested Ssemwogerere Frank David alias Ndugwa, alias Kano, the overall commander of Uganda Coalition Forces of Change (UCFC), a rebel group formed in 2022.

A police post in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb, has been attacked by two men riding a motorcycle. The attackers were armed with AK47 guns.

The Monday morning attack saw officers at Kensington police post in Kyanja exchange fire with the advancing gunmen.

The officers luckily managed to repel the attackers without losing ground or injuries despite the heavy gunfire exchange.

In the recent past, there has been increased attacks on police posts and officers, the most recent being the attack on Busiika police post in Luweero.

The government responded by arresting ten members of former minister Abdul Nadduli family saying they had questions to answer in relation to suspected rebel activities.

Recently, police said it had arrested Ssemwogerere Frank David alias Ndugwa, alias Kano, the overall commander of Uganda Coalition Forces of Change (UCFC), a rebel group formed in 2022.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Ssemeogerere has been responsible for a number of attacks, especially on security personnel in Wakiso, Kiboga and Kassanda districts.

“If you remember very well, four police officers like Lokech, Police Constable Kigongo Moses, OC Ndimba Paul and Francis Nsubuga, were all gunned down by this same group. They also attacked two LDU’s in Wakiso and their gun was robbed,” he said.
