Police puts out of action 2 ADF rebels in Matugga

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga told journalists today that the two men killed were part of the ADF rebels who had come back into the country from DRC with weapons.

The police flying squad and crime intelligence units have confirmed the killing of two ADF rebels in an operation carried out last night in the areas of Matugga-Wakiso district.

According to police, a terror cell was also destroyed; four magazines were recovered with 66 rounds of ammunition as well as an improvised explosive device.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga told journalists in today’s police media briefing that the two men killed at Kito village in Matugga were part of the ADF rebels who had come back into the country from neighbouring DRC with weapons and had orchestrated the recent attack on Busiika police station and Kyabadaaza.

“During the raid, there was a fierce exchange of gunfire that took place which led to the putting out of action of two ADF terrorists and we recovered two guns and explosives in one of the bags that were managed by the counter-terrorism team,” he said.

The counter operation which led to the death of the two rebels identified as Hakim Kajubi and another only identified as Muhanguzi followed multiple strings of intelligence carried out by police, hence being successful since the right assailants were arrested.

“We want this to be a reminder to any individual or groups that would like or wish to use any violence against Ugandans and its visitors, that no matter how far they run, we shall always get them,” he noted.
