PRAU launches inaugural mentorship programme to cultivate the next generation of PR talent
The Mentorship Programme offers a unique opportunity for both mentees and mentors to engage in mutually beneficial relationships.
The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) takes a significant stride forward in nurturing aspiring PR professionals with the launch of its inaugural Mentorship Programme.
This innovative initiative, spanning over the next three months, aims to bridge the gap between seasoned industry experts and budding talents, fostering a culture of mentorship and growth within the PR community.
Commenting on the launch, Tina Wamala, President of PRAU, expressed enthusiasm for the programme, stating, “The launch of our Mentorship Programme marks a pivotal moment for PRAU and the PR industry at large. By connecting seasoned mentors with aspiring professionals, we are not only empowering the next generation of PR leaders but also fostering a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing and skill development thrive. This initiative underscores PRAU’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of the PR profession in Uganda.”
The Mentorship Programme offers a unique opportunity for both mentees and mentors to engage in mutually beneficial relationships. Mentees will benefit from one-on-one mentorship with established PR professionals, tailored career guidance, access to industry insights, networking opportunities, and personalized feedback on their goals.
On the other hand, mentors will have the chance to share their knowledge and expertise, make a valuable contribution to the industry’s future, gain fresh perspectives, and connect with future industry leaders.
The programme commenced with a dynamic workshop on 20th February, followed by the matching of mentors and mentees.
Eligibility for participation was open to students pursuing PR and communication courses and young professionals with less than seven years of experience for mentees, while mentors should have over seven years of PR experience and a passion for guiding future generations.
