The President said the occasion marked a historic moment for his family, noting that his daughter had become the first Bishop in the family. He reflected on his family’s long history in the area and the journey of faith that began when his father, Mzee Kaguta, joined the Church in 1947.

President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have celebrated the consecration of their daughter, Patience Rwabwogo, as a Bishop of Covenant Nations Churches in Uganda after 20 years of ministry.

President Museveni thanked God for the milestone and praised the medical staff and family members who supported First Lady Janet Museveni during her recovery. He also appreciated their children, Muhoozi, Natasha, Patience, and Diana, for standing with her throughout the period.

The President said the occasion marked a historic moment for his family, noting that his daughter had become the first Bishop in the family. He reflected on his family’s long history in the area and the journey of faith that began when his father, Mzee Kaguta, joined the Church in 1947.

Ahead of the consecration ceremony held in Maya, President Museveni and Maama Janet hosted Pastor Enoch Adeboye and his wife Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye, leaders of the Redeemed Christian Church of God from Nigeria, alongside other religious leaders and guests who attended the event.

Museveni said Christianity has contributed positively to African societies by promoting values such as love, forgiveness, helping others, and peaceful coexistence. He linked these teachings to the National Resistance Movement’s principle of prioritising shared interests above differences.

He reminded religious leaders that the core message of Christianity is to serve humanity by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and supporting those in need, following the example of Jesus Christ.

As she prepared for her ordination, Bishop Patience Rwabwogo joined choirs from the three branches of her church in worship, singing her favourite song, “I Love Your Presence,” written by Darren Clarke and Jessie Lane Clarke.

Pastor Adeboye took part in the consecration ceremony, while some of President Museveni’s grandchildren also attended the event to witness the historic occasion.

President Museveni congratulated Bishop Patience Rwabwogo and wished her wisdom, strength, and guidance as she began her new responsibilities in ministry.
