Renewed Hope Initiative extends food outreach to Bauchi, reaches 29th beneficiary state

The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Food Outreach Programme has extended its support to Bauchi State, making it the 29th state to benefit from the initiative’s Social Investment Scheme aimed at assisting vulnerable Nigerians.

The food items were presented to the Wife of the Bauchi State Governor, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, for distribution to persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups across the state.

The First Lady of Nigeria and National Chairman of RHI, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, reaffirmed the initiative’s commitment to supporting vulnerable citizens through sustained food interventions and other empowerment programmes.

Represented by the wife of the Vice-President and RHI National Vice Chairman, Hajiya Nana Shettima, Senator Tinubu said the programme has been sustained through support from two donors who provide two truckloads of food items to RHI every month.

She identified the donors as the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) and an anonymous donor, noting that the Bauchi consignment was provided by the anonymous donor.

Senator Tinubu appreciated the donors for their continued contribution towards addressing food insecurity and improving the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians.

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, described the outreach as a significant intervention that reflects the compassionate leadership of the First Lady. Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Mohammed Auwal Jatau, the governor thanked Senator Tinubu for her efforts in supporting disadvantaged communities.

He said the state government would continue implementing agricultural subsidies, empowerment programmes, and education support to improve livelihoods while working towards long-term economic self-reliance among citizens.

Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, who is also the Bauchi State Coordinator of RHI, announced cash assistance for beneficiaries to help facilitate transportation and distribution of the food items to communities across the state.

The RHI Food Outreach Programme has so far reached 28 states, and the Federal Capital Territory, with Katsina and Akwa Ibom, expected to be the next beneficiaries.

The programme is part of RHI’s efforts to complement President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by providing practical support to vulnerable Nigerians, particularly persons with disabilities and other groups facing economic hardships.
